混凝土装入车内以后,要求在2h或更短的时间内卸到工作面上,在此期间须不停地搅拌;如果在规定时间内不能运到工地或因各种原因停止搅拌,车内混凝土就会报废,严重的会导致混凝土凝固在车内,造成搅拌运输车报废。这对搅拌运输车的可靠性提出了严格的要求,绝对不允许搅拌运输车在工作时发生停机的故障,因此混凝土搅拌车选型首先要考虑的就是车辆须十分可靠,关键部位如发动机和传动驱动装置发生故障的可能性要越低越好。

沙和砾石是混凝土的主要组成成分。它们使混凝土搅拌车混凝土贮罐及进、出料口在工作时磨损严重。一般情况下,采用低合金钢制造的混凝土贮罐使用寿命为5万~8万m3,混凝土贮罐内的螺旋叶片寿命只有3万~4万m3。国产混凝土贮罐一般由高强度低合金钢钢材制成,比普通A3钢材耐磨提高1~2倍。一些进口混凝土贮罐采用锰硼专用耐磨钢材,并且在易磨损部位镶耐磨材料加固,因此其使用寿命比低合金钢制造的又可提高1倍。由此可知,采用材料不同其工作寿命则大不相同。
